Summary of the Problem
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP): “optimal method for feeding /promotes/ best health, developmental and psychosocial outcomes for children.”
US Dept. of Health and Human Svs (DHHS) 2010 BF goals: -increase BF in early postpartum to at least 74%. -increase BF 6 months or longer by 50%. -Increase BF 12 mo. Or longer by 25%
The population most likely to BF are middle/upper-class, Caucasian women.
