A Cultural Group
Select a course topic covered/a cultural group. This is your opportunity to delve deeper into the body of literature to learn more about a group that interests you or that you know less about overall. Relate the literature (e.g., quotes, citations, references) to what you observed, experienced, and studied. Create a PowerPoint/Prezi/Visme presentation about the cultural group. Your audience is colleagues/fellow teachers – as if you are presenting to them.
Describe the selected cultural group and any related facts, statistics, trends, etc.;
Analyze challenges for this group and related solutions;
Evaluate specific strategies related to students from the cultural group and implications for educators to consider in the classroom;
Explain customs or rituals within the group and how they are similar and different to other groups and how those customs/rituals should be attended to at school;
Analyze language(s), communication styles, and non-verbal communication of the cultural group and how that may affect how educators communicate with students and families accordingly; and
Reflect on what was learned through deeper study of the group and how studying cultural groups as an educator may help with better understandings of specific groups and groups in general.
Submit at least 12 slides (with text and graphics) not including the title slide and references slide/s.
